How do we move?

l

1. Request for quote

To be able help you and to provide you with information on the costs and procedure of your move, please ask for a quote. The best way to do this is to contact us in writing. We process all requests for quote received as quickly as possible.

  • If the request for quote provides adequate details and the task seems to be more simple, we will send you our quote based on the information you have provided, covering all details.
  • If the request is incomplete, a member of our staff will contact you within 24 hours to ask for the missing details and then we will send you our quote.
  • If the job is more complex or it is an overseas move, we will first send you a short response that we are working on your request, but we will ask for your patience while we negotiate with our foreign partners. This usually takes 2-3 working days.

For more complex, large-scale moves, we recommend doing an initial survey, on the basis of which we can send you a personalised quote. You can also ask for an initial survey yourself. Simply indicate that you would like to request a survey.

2. Initial survey

During the survey, an experienced member of our staff will visit you and you can go through the premises of your home and record all items to be shipped. During the survey, it can also be agreed what extra services you would like us to provide in addition to the moving. We will try to cover all the details, such as packing and unpacking the kitchen, or disassembling and assembling the furniture, or protective wrapping, or dismantling and installing the accessories.

A staff member will be able to offer advice and suggestions during the survey on all issues related to the move. After our survey, we will send you a written quote. Calculating the costs on-site or bargaining is not possible. However, we are open to proposals once our quote has been sent.

3. Accepting the quote and fine-tuning the details

If our quote seems to be acceptable, you can give us feedback with the possibility to discuss, modify and fine-tune the quote.
In the case of a move overseas or to a non-EU country, it is necessary at this stage to check that all existing documents are sufficient to meet the customs clearance requirements.

For moves from a non-EU country to Hungary, it is not a good idea to even start the moving process until you have all the documents in order.

4. Planning - finalisation - signing the contract

A very important part of the moving process is planning the move and finalising the dates.

What needs to be considered?

  • Holidays or public holidays that may occur during the transport, which may have an importance for vehicles over 7.5 tons and the possible customs clearance
  • The driver’s driving and resting times, the daily distance travelled
  • The ferry departure and arrival times
  • For overseas moves, the loading space in the boat or flight needs to be booked
  • Payment arrangements

Planning is essential for international jobs. You need to take into account how long it will take us to deliver the shipment. The Budapest-Paris distance (1,485 km) can be covered in one day by an experienced driver. But it may be 2 days for a professional driver, as he must follow the rules on driving and rest periods laid down by law.

You also need to take into account the time range when the truck will reach the destination.
For the Budapest-Frankfurt distance, the journey time is 12-13 hours. If we leave at 6 am, the arrival time is 6-7 pm, and it is not a good idea to start unloading in a condominium building, because the police will be called, so it is better to plan to start the unloading the next day at 8 am.

It is important to know whether there is a non-working day or public holiday in the given country during the transport. This is important as there may a ban on large vehicles (over 7.5 tons).

Or, for example, if you are moving to Switzerland, it is not a good idea to arrive or depart on a weekend, because at the majority of the border crossings neither the customs office nor the freight forwarders are open over the week-end.

In many cases, finding a 24/7 open border control can mean detour of several hundred kms, and only 1-2% of freight forwarders are willing to customs clear mover cargos. And without customs clearance, we cannot cross the border.

5. Packing

We encourage our customers to pack everything in boxes. This especially applies to fragile objects. Use an adhesive tape to seal the boxes on the top and bottom! Mark the contents in the boxes so that we can place them on the truck accordingly. Boxes can be stacked well on the truck.

In contrast, plastic bags are slipping, get stuck in the stair railing, get torn out… they are unsuitable for moving.  But if you only have plastic bags, please choose stronger ones.

6. Preparations

For the move (loading) to go smoothly and quickly, a few conditions must be met. A parking space must be reserved as close to the entrance of the house as possible.

Cleaning up the loading route (putting away flowers, carpets, other stuff).

Ensure non-slippery access routes.

It is necessary to pack everything including the TV, pictures, other decorative items…

All furniture must be in transportable condition.

If you have a problem with an item, please let us know in advance and we’ll take it into account.

7. Loading

During the move, we will disassemble and pack your furniture as required, and we will also provide protective packaging for your accessories (pictures, lamps, shelves, mirrors, etc.) during the loading process.

If any items remained unpacked, we can use the spare boxes on the truck.

We pay attention to any furniture items with special fabric, which will be wrapped in stretch film so that it does not get dirty during the move.

8. Transport

The goods are placed and transported on the truck with blankets and cardboard boxes, separated from each other.

We transport up to 3.5 tons gross weight in closed box trucks, and over 3.5 tons in semi-closed trucks with tarpaulin.

9. At the destination

In addition to the above considerations (parking space, loading route, non-slippery access), you should also plan in advance where you want to position your items. During unloading, we unpack and assemble the items we have disassembled and packed.

All furniture will be set up in its final location as you request, we can connect the washing machine, and all used packaging material will be removed at the end of the move

If you have any extra requests besides connecting the washing machine, e.g. fixing a wardrobe or bookshelf to the wall, please let us know in advance!
